An Olympic gold medallist and the world number one, Scott made history when he became the first showjumper to complete the Rolex Grand Slam in Calgary in September 2015.
Born in Peebles in 1985, the son of a racing jockey, Scott started riding at the age of seven and went to his first show as a nine-year-old.
Scott made his international debut in 2008 in Poznan and went on to win team gold at the London Olympics on Hello Sanctos in 2012, finishing fifth in the individual event in Greenwich.
The following year, Scott and Hello Sanctos won team gold and individual bronze at the European Championships and, later in 2013, he won the Doha Grand Prix, the last event of the 2013 Global Champions Tour, to take the overall championship.
He became world number one in December 2013 and retained the Global Champions title in 2014, with significant victories in Cannes, Estoril, Geneva and London.
Scott continued his extraordinary run of success with Hello Sanctos in 2015. He won the Rolex Grand Prix titles in Aachen, Geneva and Calgary, the sport’s three most prestigious annual events, to win the Rolex Grand Slam.
After winning in Calgary, Scott said: “Words can't describe it. It is the best feeling I've ever had. I didn't think it could be done. It means everything.
"What can I say about Sanctos? He is the horse of a lifetime. He was unbelievable in the second round and he tried his heart out."
Scott, who runs a successful yard in Sussex, received an MBE for services to equestrianism in the New Year’s Honours List in 2013.
He repeated his victory at Spruce Meadows at the CP International grand prix in September 2016.
Scott and Ursula XII faced Mclain Ward on HH Azur in the third round and went clear for the third time in the competition to secure victory.
