We are very much looking forward to beginning the defence of our World T20 title next month
Stuart Broad, Jos Buttler and Craig Kieswetter have been named in the 15-man England squad for next month’s ICC World T20.
Captain Broad will lead the side in Sri Lanka, starting against Afghanistan on September 21, as England attempt to retain the trophy they won in 2010.
"We are very much looking forward to beginning the defence of our World T20 title next month," said national selector Geoff Miller.
"We know that it will take exceptional cricket to retain the trophy and that begins with the first match against Afghanistan.
"This is a very balanced squad combining experienced players with some exciting young talent who have done well at both international and domestic level this season and who are all very excited by the challenges ahead in Sri Lanka."
The 15-man T20 squad will also contest the three-match series with South Africa, which gets under way at Emirates Durham ICG on September 8.
The England selectors also announced the squad for the forthcoming five-match NatWest ODI Series against South Africa, which commences at the SWALEC Stadium, Cardiff on August 24.
Kieswetter has been selected, while Broad has been rested.
"Broad has an important period coming up leading our T20 side and with a three-match series followed closely by the ICC World T20 we feel a two-week break from cricket is in the best interests of both Stuart and the team," said Miller.
