Stuart Broad has been nominated for the Cricketer of the Year honour at the LG ICC Awards 2012.

Broad is among nine players in contention to win the prestigious prize ahead of the annual ceremony, which takes place in Colombo on September 15.

Broad has also been nominated for the Test Cricketer of the Year gong.

Now in its ninth year, the ceremony recognises the major individual and team achievements in world cricket.

All nominations are based on the period between August 4 2011 and August 6 2012 and the winners will be decided by an academy of 32 cricket personalities from around the world, including former players, members of the media and an elite umpire and match referee.

Together with the 11 individual awards, the ICC Test and ODI teams of the year will also be selected.

"The LG ICC Awards presents a wonderful opportunity for the ICC, along with thousands of cricket fans, to acknowledge and reward the brilliant performances of the world's best cricketers," said ICC chief executive David Richardson.
