What an amazing week at the Turkish Airlines Open.

The course, conditions, facilities, hotel and everything else at the Regnum Carla Golf and Spa Resort were unbelievable, first class in every respect and I can't remember ever having been in a better players' lounge.

Any of the resort's six restaurants would prosper in London they were that good.

I can't count the number of players and caddies who told me how much they'd enjoyed the week and I'd like to thank them all for making it such an enjoyable experience.

To think that the event had been in doubt almost up to the start and went ahead without a flaw says much for the spirit, dedication and determination of the Turkish government, golf federation and Turkish Airlines.

They were rewarded with an outstanding champion in Thorbjorn Olesen, chased home all the way by our own Dave Horsey.

The Mancunian has had an incredible rise since he became fully fit in August at a time when he was well down the European Tour pecking order.

Now he's one of this year's stars and could be on his way to next year's major events if he continues his surge up the rankings.

Dave is the perfect example of what can be achieved if you have the head, heart and balls for the job.

We had other top-10 performances from George Coetzee and Ben An while Jeunghun Wang was a highly commendable 13th.

Now it's Sun City and another chance for Masters Champion Danny Willett to overtake Henrik Stenson at the top of the European Tour rankings.

Just like Turkey, it's going to be a great event as will the season ending Race to Dubai the week after.
