Matthias turned professional at the Lyoness Open powered by ORGANIC+ in June 2017 at the same time as joining International Sports Management.

In his first full year on the European Tour in 2018, he picked up seven top-10 finishes and continued his strong progress in 2019.

Matthias had a share of second at the Porsche European Open and followed that up with a share of fourth at the WGC-HSBC Champions - his first WGC - and then lost in a play-off in the Turkish Airlines Open.

He ended 2019 81st in the Official World Golf Rankings and and 17th on the European Tour's Race to Dubai.

In 2019 he had 10 top-10 finishes - more than anyone else on the European Tour.

After turning professional, he made a strong early impression on the European Tour, making four of his first five cuts in 2018 and taking a share of fourth place at the Hero Indian Open.

Matthias enjoyed further top-10 finishes at the Porsche European Open, Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and D+D REAL Czech Masters on the way to finishing 72nd on the Race to Dubai in his Rookie Year.

He began the 2019 season with another top-10, taking a share of ninth place at the Honma Hong Kong Open presented by Amundi.

Matthias ended his amateur career as the number one European in both SPWAR and WAGR after a hugely successful time at Vanderbilt University.

In 2017 he finished third in the NCAA DI Men’s National Championship for the second consecutive year and helping his college to the semi-finals.

A two-time All-American and named All-SEC First Team for a third straight season, Matthias clinched the Palmer Cup for Europe last summer and played at the 2017 Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard.
